Greetings from Trafalgar and a warm welcome to Rome, the EternalCity. After check-in at yourhotel, you will have time to relax and unwind before meetingwith your Tour Director in the afternoon. Day 3 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure
We have an included sightseeing tour with a local guide thismorning who introduces us to this ancient city. The highlight ofthe tour is the visit to the awe-inspiring St. Peter''s Basilica inthe Vatican City. Then we cross the Tiber River to enjoy views ofthe Forum and the iconic Colosseum, the scene of gladiatorialcombat in ancient Rome. Later we have time at leisure to explorethe city further or maybe to take an optional excursion to see thecatacombs, the underground burial places of the early Christians,or maybe to drive out of Rome to visit the splendid Tivoli Gardenswith their unique and ornate fountains. Day 4 - Rome - Bay of Naples (2 nights)
Today we head past the Abbey of Monte Cassino to the Bay of Naplesfor two relaxing nights. This afternoon, why not take an optionalexcursion to see the excavations of Pompeii, the town literallypetrified by the eruption of the volcano, Vesuvius, in AD79? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)Hotel: Stabia
Day 5 - Sorrento excursion
This morning we drive to the nearby resort of Sorrento to visit aninlaid wood workshop. Then free time to shop on the Piazza Tassobefore maybe taking an optional excursion to the enchanting Isle ofCapri. This former summer home of Roman emperors is alive withcolor and character. This evening we return to our hotel fordinner. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6 - Bay of Naples - Assisi
Today we drive north to Umbria and the mystic city of St. Francis,Assisi, which lies on the slopes of Mount Subasio. On arrival anorientation tour includes St. Francis Basilica, renowned for itsfresco paintings. Dinner is at our hotel. (Buffet breakfast /Dinner)Hotel: Frate Sole
Day 7 - Assisi - Venice (2 nights)

Day 8 - Venice orientation & at leisure
Savor the sights and sounds of this serene city as we take ourcanal cruise by vaporetto to St. Mark''s Square with views of theBridge of Sighs, the Doge''s Palace and the Basilica of St. Mark. Wewill watch a demonstration of Murano glass-blowing before time atleisure or maybe take a trip out into the lagoon for a seafoodlunch on the Island of Burano? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 9 - Venice - Italian Lakes (2 nights)
This morning''s drive takes us inland to Shakespeare''s Verona. Herewe stop to admire the Roman Arena and see Juliet''s balcony. Finallywe travel via Milan to the Italian Lake District. (Buffet breakfast/ Dinner)Hotel: Continental
Day 10 - Lugano excursion
After breakfast we head out on an excursion into Switzerland andthe pretty resort of Lugano. There''s time here to perhaps strollalong the lakeside promenades, pedalo on the lake and enjoy thewonderful mountain air, before we return to our hotel. (Buffetbreakfast / Dinner)
Day 11 - Italian Lakes - Florence (2 nights)
We cross the Apennine Mountains passing by Genoa, Columbus''birthplace. From here we make our way to Pisa where we see thefamous Leaning Tower in the Square of Miracles. Day 12 - Florence sightseeing and at leisure
Florence was one of the liveliest and most creative cities inEurope, so today''s visitor can see some of the world''s greatestworks of art and most magnificent buildings here. This morning we drive to nearby Siena, through the Chianti-wineproducing area of Tuscany. Orientation of this medieval city famousfor its Palio Horse Race, reveals its rich artistic heritage. In a group of 9 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for a 50% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour. In a group of 16 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for 100% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour.

When travelling alone, we understand that some clients do not want to incur the expense of an additional single room supplement. With this in mind, on the majority of our itineraries, Trafalgar offers you the opportunity to purchase these tours on a room-sharing basis. We will accommodate you with a fellow passenger of the same gender on a ‘two-bedded’ basis (non-smoking rooms only). Please note that, regrettably, we cannot guarantee that room mates will be of a similar age group. Even so, it is an enjoyable way to travel and get to make new friends, and a positive way to stretch your holiday budget. If we fail to match you, we will provide a single room at no extra cost.
